A letter from a reader…

I read the articles on women’s self defense. They bring up some very good points about the reality of self defense. I have “dabbled” in martial arts and I tend to drift away from the traditional and towards the practical. (A Kung Fu brown belt friend pointed out that I have been dabbling for over 25 years).

Recently, a female friend of mine has asked me to teach her some self defense. She took some karate when she was in college, but she wants to learn something that works. I know she can’t use many of the techniques I use due to size, strength and training differences. I am showing her some techniques that work in the street, that will give her an edge for getting away from an attacker. However, I am always looking to expand my knowledge on what actually works.

Do you know of any books, videos, or websites that can boost this training? (We have both attended community self-defense courses). Are there resources that help understand what tactics attackers will use? (A rapist will use different tactics than a mugger).

Thank you,

Heath

My response:

I must say that the best information I have ever come across is from TFT.

It is in my arsenal of course, and I consider it the best information for
protecting one’s self.

It makes everything you will learn in any other system more complete and
easy to integrate.

The system also explains the mechanics behind each move.

I’ve talked to Tim (the developer) personally, and he is very good at what he does.

You can buy it at our store, I’m excited to say! :)

Take care, and if you get the program let me know what you think.
